Our Sacred Story
About the Temple
Who We Are
A Home for Every Soul
Seeking the Divine
Our temple stands as a unique spiritual landmark in the Southern Hemisphere, home to a remarkable collection of sacred icons that embody divine protection and grace. It is distinguished as the first of its kind to house the largest Shri Anantha Muthumariamman Murthi — a magnificent representation of the Divine Mother in Her compassionate and all-encompassing form.
Alongside Her, devotees are blessed to witness the presence of the largest reclining Angala Parameshwari Periyaayi Amman, symbolizing deep cosmic rest, protection, and maternal strength. The temple is further sanctified by Shri Atharvana Bhadrakali Pratyangira Devi, revered for Her fierce protective energy, and Shri Periyachi Amman, guardian of children and families.
Together, these sacred forms create a rare and powerful confluence of divine energies — making this temple not only a place of worship, but a centre of healing, protection, and spiritual upliftment for all who seek the blessings of the Divine Mother in Her many manifestations.

Our Journey
Our Sacred Journey
A Seed is Planted
Founded through the vision and devotion of Spiritual Head Gurukkal Vishendrin Vijaykumar, the temple was created to offer devotees a place of peace, strength, and spiritual refuge. Inspired by the needs of those seeking healing and inner calm, Gurukkal undertook deep prayer and a spiritual journey to India before establishing the temple in South Africa.
The Birth of Arulmighu Shri Anantha Muthumariamman Thirukovil
Born through divine will, guided by vision, prophecy, and unwavering devotion, the temple was destined to arise on land marked by a sacred hill and a self-manifested (Swayambhu) form of the Divine Mother. A miraculous discovery of a sacred anthill and serpent confirmed the living presence of Amma — establishing this as a powerful spiritual centre even before its physical structure was built.
Opening to the Community
Since opening to the public in January 2023, the temple has become a growing spiritual hub for the community — hosting regular poojas, virathams, and major festivals, drawing devotees from across the country who seek healing, protection, and divine guidance.
Historic Unveiling — The Largest Statue in the Southern Hemisphere
Arulmighu Shri Anantha Muthumariamman Thirukovil in New Modder, Benoni, marked a historic milestone with the unveiling of the largest statue of Goddess Shri Anantha Muthumariamman in the Southern Hemisphere. Devotees from near and far gathered to witness this sacred and momentous occasion. The statue stands as a powerful symbol of faith, the empowerment of women, respect for motherhood, and reverence for nature.
Growth & Expansion
Ongoing developments focus on preserving sacred spaces, enhancing worship areas, and maintaining authentic traditions. The temple envisions expanding into a fully established spiritual complex — including a grand sanctum, additional shrines, and facilities for larger gatherings. With plans to install the presiding deity in black granite, the temple continues its journey toward becoming a powerful centre of healing and spiritual upliftment for the Southern Hemisphere.
